Dear crazy mother-in-law is back again. That sentence alone is already enough for a whole blog post as it sits heavy. Last time she was here for three months was last year when she came here in the middle of April. Oh how happy I was when those three months with her were over and yet here I am once again and hear her voice somewhere in the apartment.
Yesterday evening we went for the Hamburg Airport to pick her up. Surprisingly nothing weird happened there. She did not try to force her way past the security checks no nothing. I was actually kind of shocked that she was not coming out with a police escort or similar, perhaps there is still hope for her. As it was already late when we got home there was not much time for her to pull of any crazy stunts. She only fixed herself some dinner and then went to sleep. Sounds alright except of her standard snoring. You know I wrote about it already somewhere but a starting plane is a joke compared to her snoring. In Suzhou I was able to hear her snoring through the wall as she had a room next to ours!
Today it also was eerily quiet with her. She prepared us lunch and nothing broke. I am wondering if it is really her and not some kind of cyborg. Okay she could not do any harm yet as I was closely watching that the kitchen would survive at least the first day. I even bought several sets of new kitchen rags which I will secretly exchange over the next three months, no need for disgusting kitchen rags which are so dirty that they might develop some life form suddenly. Nothing broken yet, sounds kinda boring don’t you think? Well she managed one thing today as we went to the lake nearby to dip our feet in the water. She was holding Nathan and went deeper and deeper in the lake until the poor little thing did not only had his diapers soaked with water but his shirt as well, thank you MIL.
What crazy stuff will my mother-in-law pull off this time?

Nah, I don’t hate her at all, it is just the crazyness happening all the time which can be both amusing at times but at other times also terrifying

Sounds like a normal typical day. What is going on? Or maybe it is the calm before the storm and before all hell breaks loose. 🙂
I have no doubt that hell will break loose in no time. There is just no way it will stay this calm even for one week

She sounds normal for once! Well the lake part with Nathan not so much, but hearing stories about her, I think she could do worse. Three months of summer with her? I hope she maintains this sanity.. maybe she discovered your blog and is normal suddenly 😉
Nono, just no chance that she will be able to keep up this normal facade for a long time. I think it will be utter chaos here within this week 🙂

BTW, for the snoring, in the pharmacy you can buy a spray that she has to use right before going to bed, it softens something inside and she won’t snore. At least it worked with my father haha.
The spray doesn’t work, also no tapes or anything like that. Only surgery would do the trick but she does not want that…
I must say it is really hard to keep an eye on her all the time and also on Nathan. After just two days I am completly exhausted
MIL on the quiet this time. Not sure if I like the sound of that. Maybe the craziness will explode out all of a sudden and a big mishap will happen. Maybe it will be something new this time. Maybe she might do something to the bathroom. Or she will drag all of you someplace for an adventure….
As for the snoring, I am sorry to hear that. I hope it doesn’t become a bother every night. It sounds like in this instance, ear plugs won’t be able to block out the sound.
There is just nothing in this world to keep her snoring at bay.
I am kind of fearing what disaster might happen as soon as she is not able to control herself any longer…
I must find the time to read more about your MIL. It sounds like a lot of fun, well… when those misadventures which include her are written down.
How do you know she’s not in fact a spy?
But yes, the cyborg theory seems to work too. Maybe the snore was actually the engine roaring?

Yes we are very blessed. I realized her snoring is not that bad when at least two doors are closed between our room and the one she stays in 🙂
