Today is a special day as it is the 100th post on this blog. It all started in August 2013 when I decided to write down few stories about my mother-in-law and some things which were on my mind about China.
Especially in the beginning I had no real idea what I wanted to write about and my stories and writing style in general was even worse than now! Looking back it is really interesting to see how I slowly began to improve from article to article. Right now I am still far away from what I have on my mind for my writing style, the blog and also on all the topics I would love to cover. But not only did the blog change over time also our family life changed during the past 1 1/2 years of blogging.

Back in 2013 we just had our two main wedding ceremonies, one in China and one in Finland. My in-laws had stayed with us in Finland for nearly four weeks and I was just exhausted by all the events. My wife was in her 3rd month of pregnancy and we were looking forward to our baby. I was mostly unemployed and had only few projects going on which were never really satisfying. So what made us think of moving to Germany out of nowhere towards the end of 2013? I wanted to do a master degree in Finland and was about to enroll for the universities when my wife decided from one day to the next that we would have much more possibilities in Germany. Possibilities not only when it came to my studies but also chances of getting a job for me and better environment for my wife to start her own business.
2014 arrived and was amazing as I wrote already in a previous post. We have a great little boy who will have his first birthday in 20 days, we have a great apartment and I got a stable job for the next years. Perhaps I will continue there or follow initial plan and do some more studies. Now we have 2015 and things are looking good for our future and for the future of this blog as I have much (too much) material for new articles for still some time and there is no risk of having not enough to write about as MIL is joining us for a three months visit in April, Hooray!

My biggest wish for this year is actually to do some more traveling. In August we will go to China again and we were promised already a trip to South Korea. However we would also love to go to Japan some day soon and when I think about it, there are just too many places to visit.
So now I thank all of you who follow my blog. Each comment helped me to improve and gave me also the needed feedback to continue. There are so many great blogs out there with great stories. Some helped me on what places to visit, what to eat there, how to make life easier, some articles made me laugh and others made me nearly cry (men don’t cry!). I hope to read more stories from all of you and I do try to write more interesting posts.
Ps. Don’t ask me about the featured image on top, just found it recently again and it does looks creepy
Do you blog and how do you feel when looking back to the beginnings on how your blogging world changed and your personal life as well?
Be sure to follow me also on Facebook and on Twitter as I will post there occasionally pictures which do not find their way into my blog posts.
Congrats! I have no idea how you found my blog, but ‘glad you did since it in return I discovered yours. 😉 Love your funny stories and writing!
I also wonder right now how I stumbled upon your blog. One thing I know is that yours was one of the first I followed 😮
That’s great you’ve enjoyed writing your blog, well done for keeping it up for 100 posts. Looking forward to the next 100, keep it up!
I hope I will have interesting stories to share 🙂
Congrats on 100 posts! Woo hoo! Though I’ve only recently discovered your Crazy Chinese Family… love it!
And frankly have enough male friends from Canada married to kick ass ladies from China (strangely enough TWO in Singapore alone originally from Winnipeg married to lasses from Shanghai!) or American lass married to a fab guy in China to be able to nod n smile along with many of your stories.
Heck some situations aren’t so different than having Indian in-laws so… makes for a pretty universal sympathy groans!
Bravo for your next 100 posts – that milestone will arrive before you know it!
Thank you 🙂
I believe that many stories can be applied to in-laws around the world. However my mother-in-law has this certain extra through which I ended up blogging. From all people I knew from “before I met my wife thing” no one is married or together with a Asian. However ever since I got together iwth my wife I met many interracial couples
We are a pretty fab club with oodles of permutation and combinations!!! 😉
it looks like some kind of voo-doo to take your MIL away 😀 congrats on your 100th post and let us read more!
Thank you so much. Your blog was one of the first I followed back then 🙂
Voodoo, yeah I will have to figure out something!
Congratulations! The first 100 posts on your blog definitely have been interesting and well worth reading. I’ve really enjoyed following your blog.
You beat me by a few weeks. My 100th post is coming up in a couple of weeks.
Happy 100, and many many more! Yay!
Thank you, I wonder how many more posts will be dedicated to MiL…
Congrats on 100 posts! 😀 It’s crazy how unexpectedly these moves happen, isn’t it? Good luck in the coming year and in your trip to China!
Thank you 🙂
It really shows how life can take unexpected turns
Congrats on your 100th post! It has been fun watching your family grow, hearing stories about your mother-in-law, and watching little Nathan grow!! Look forward to reading the next 100 and see where the journey will take you!
I did not even realize that I would get my 100th post until last weekends post when I suddenly realized that it cooked 99. Time really goes by fast these days 😛
Congrats, Crazy, on your 100th post. Big achievement and very happy to hear that things are going well for you and your nice little family 🙂 I really enjoyed your blog and reading all your stories about traveling, moving and of course, MIL and FIL. Always very exciting post and your sense of humour is shining through more and more. MIL is a star in her own right, don’t you agree….
It feels like I’ve been following you for a long time, I don’t know. Time flies, I suppose. Very nice to have met you here, and looking forward to more posts soon 😀
Indeed time is passing by very quickly. For me it feels like that I just started last summer and not the summer before that. Your blog was also one of the first ones I started first reading and then following relatively in the beginning of my blogging 🙂
Maybe it’s because a lot of things are happening in your life, so that’s why time is passing by fast. Love the variety on your blog and the cultural topics.
I don’t know how you found my blog, because when you followed I wasn’t very active blog-walking. Probably a stroke of luck 🙂
I really wonder also 🙂
It is the same with the blog Taiwanvore. No idea how I found it but it is one of the first I followed
Congrats on your 100th post! That photo does look creepy. 😛 Hope there you’re not up to any weird spells. Can’t wait to see how your blog and life continues to progress. 😀
Thank you. The picture we took around end of 2013 I guess. This creepy little plush toy is already weird enough without candle light reflecting in its eyes in the dark as Nathan doesn’t want to touch it even”
Congratulations! Those asian countries on your travel list sound wonderful – hope you get to go to some if not all of them! Very cute photo of your son 🙂
Those countries on my list are what we definitely want to visit in the next year or years. There are so many more but we will have to see how to manage them in future and those weird holiday schedules in Germany 🙂
Congratulations on 100 posts, and I look forward to (at least) 100 more! 😀
And Happy Birthday in advance to Mr. Adorable! 🙂
I just started getting back into blogging after a few years’ break, and am differently seeing a difference in the general blogosphere (so much more Youtube now!) as well as in my own style. My old blog used to be very mememe, but now I want to make it more about sharing things about Japan and Japanese, with me in it. If that makes sense? I’m not sure that makes sense.
Anyway! Let me know if you guys make it to Japan! I’ll keep posting yummy food posts to keep your focus on coming here, haha! 😀
Thank you so much. I had also years back a blog which was pretty bad…really it was just about me I guess, writing down my thoughts. But with this blog I decided to write about things people might be actually interested in.
I really do hope that we can visit Japan someday soon and that it is more soon than later
Well I know I’m not the only one that finds it interesting, so you’re definitely on the right track! 😉 Absolutely! Fingers crossed 😀
Congratulations! I only recently found your blog, but I really enjoy reading your posts (and I have a whole archive of 100 posts to go through) so be sure that I’ll stick around. Keep up the good work:)
Thank you for the support. It is always exciting to stumble on new blogs you are interested in. Lately I found so many, covering all kinds of topics, that I cant even keep up reading them right now!
Congratulations and thanks for the recap. I needed it 🙂
I actually didnt plan a recap but in the end I didnt get around it 🙂
Sometimes recaps are really good to help new readers to get a better idea what is going on. I think at least once a year a major recap/ review post is always good
Good idea.
wow, 100 already? Congratulations! Here’s to the next 100!
What’s with the creepy pic? Does it have a meaning?
Thank you, I will do my best to keep up the work.
The pictures, well, I really dont know. I believe I just got my camera back then and tried to take some weird pictures with candle light, cant say for sure 🙂
Congratulations on 100! Isn’t it great to look back over old blog posts and relive memories and see how you, life, and your blogging style changed. Blogs are valuable time capsules. When Nathan is older he will really appreciate all the effort you put into it, when he can read his dad’s thoughts when he was young.
I guess it always depends on the blog. This one here is certainly one I would like to show to my son later howebver I has blogs before and those ones are pretty much rubbish and thankfully got deleted years ago :p
Congratulations!! And an entertaining collection of tales you have shared with us. Thank you for opening up on the family antics so that we can all realise there is no such thing as “perfectly normal” – we all have our quirks and madness in our families – we cannot deny that! Keep it up and so glad to be connected to blogs such as yours 🙂
Happy blogging and here is to another 100 posts!
Thank you so much! I started this blog because I researched interracial couples and realized that most problems are the same you get in any family anyways. However I am glad to have an outlet in form of this blog when it comes to the escapades of my dear mother in law (in less than three months she will be here!)
Good luck 🙂 And that means you should have plenty of material for the blog – you might hit 200 posts quicker than you thought 😉
Congrats on 100! I’ve only recently started reading your blog and look forward to reading more posts! And… I see that you’ve already had one nomination but what’s one more, right? Check out the link to find out why I nominated you for your second Liebster. Congrats and Happy Blogging! http://japancanmix.com/2015/02/03/liebster-award-acceptance-and-nominations/
Thank you 🙂 Usually I would be up for it however right now I am stretched thin with several tasks so I will have to skip this one
Congratulations on 100 posts! I look forward to 100 more ^^ I enjoy reading your stories about your life, MIL, and family. Your writing style is great and makes it fun to read!
I haven’t been blogging for as long as you, just a few months. So I don’t know about my blog’s style or my goals for my blog, but I just write about things that are important to me.
Thanks for sharing your stories!
My “sytle” developed after roughly 9 months of blogging. Before that I was testing out things all the time.
It is always great to hear when someone compliments the writing style. I actually never know how others percveive the things I write so I am very glad after much good feedback. The problem for me is that I am a very sarcastic person sometimes…too sarcastic!
Maybe that’s why I like it, I like sarcasm! I don’t think that your style is too sarcastic, but rather just right.
A bit late but congrats on hitting 100 posts! I reckon it’s not always easy to keep posting but things seem to be looking up for you this year so hope the good blessings continue for your family…:)
